How does the staffing process at Medix work?

We are constantly trying to meet the demands of our clients and find candidates to place in their vacant positions. If you want to be the next person filling one of those positions, call the office nearest you to speak with one of our recruiters. The initial conversation allows the recruiter to get a grasp of your skills and interests. Then, you will meet with one of our recruiters in person so we can establish the strong relationship that is so crucial in Medix’s placement process. Once we understand your skills and interests, we will notify you of any available positions we think are the right fit. We will also provide you with any advice or assistance you may need during the interview process. If you do find that perfect opportunity and are hired, we will even walk you in on your first day of work!

What are the requirements to contract with Medix?

Some of the clients we work with may have requirements to hold specific positions, but there are no rigid guidelines to contract with Medix. We will help you market the skills you do have and find a position that fits your experience.

What should I bring to the first meeting with Medix?

When you come for your initial interview with a Medix recruiter, you should bring two forms of identification and extra copies of your resume, along with a list of professional references. You should double check with your recruiter before you come to see if you will need copies of any licenses, certifications or any other paperwork. Bringing along a notebook and pen would be helpful as well, so you can track any notes or questions you might have throughout the meeting. Please note that you will be asked to fill out an application and paperwork upon arrival; another option is to visit the application link, print off a copy, complete it and bring it with you to expedite the process. And most importantly, bring a positive attitude.

Will I be obligated to accept any positions?

You will never be obligated to accept a position at Medix. We will work hard to try and find you the right opportunity, but it is ultimately your decision what position is right for you.

Does it cost anything to contract with Medix?

Our staffing services are 100% free to our contract employees.

How often do I get paid?

As a contract employee of Medix, you will be mailed a check from Medix weekly. Or, you can avoid the hassle of the mail system completely by utilizing our direct deposit.

What benefits will I be eligible for?

As a contract employee with Medix, you can choose to enroll in our Benefits Program during your eligibility period and enjoy:

  • A supplemental medical plan with The American Worker, a Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York
  • Prescription Programs
  • Dental Plan
  • Vision Plan
  • Term Life Insurance Plan

When do my benefits start?

All of our contract employees are eligible for a supplemental benefits plan through Medix. You must enroll into benefits within 30 days of your first day of work. After which, your eligibility period will expire. Your coverage will begin on the first available Friday following 30 days of employment.  For example, if you begin work on May 12, you would have until June 10 to enroll. Your benefits would begin on the next available Friday after your 30 days of employment, which in this case, would be June 20. Please note that insurance cards take 7-10 business days for receipt after enrollment.

Whose employee am I, and who do I answer to?

You are essentially an employee of both Medix and the company at which you are hired. If you miss a day of work or are having problems at the job, it is important that you contact both your boss and your recruiter so everyone is on the same page and we can accurately assess how the placement is going.

As a contract employee on a temporary assignment, will I ever get a full-time position?

It is a possibility, but it depends on the particular assignment. Some assignments are strictly to fill a position vacant for a set time, such as a maternity leave. However, many temporary positions service as a probationary/test period to see how you fit with the company, and there is the possibility that it could turn into something more permanent.

Why would I want to accept a position that is only temporary?

There are many benefits to exploring your options through temporary employment. Temporary jobs offer you the flexibility of exploring a new field to see if it’s the path you are looking to take without the commitment. They are also a good way to earn money and keep your work experience current while finding a permanent position.

What day should I turn in my time card?

Medix runs payroll on a national basis by 5:00pm CST every Tuesday. We ask that all contractors attempt to submit their time cards by noon on Monday each week to avoid any complications or issues. Please feel free to visit our Payroll page for more information on where to direct your time cards on a weekly basis.

What happens if I miss the deadline of turning in my time card for the week?

Medix payroll is processed each week, on a National basis, at 5:00pm CST on Tuesday. If you are unable to send your time card prior to this deadline then we will process your time card the following week, in addition to your next week’s time card.

Medix is required, by law, to send out all W2’s by January 31st. However, we typically mail out all W2’s by mid January for our contract employees convenience. If you have moved or need to request an address change, please contact your recruiter immediately so they can inform our Payroll Representatives and have this promptly updated.

What are the steps I should take if I want to switch my benefits plan?

If you are looking to enroll or switch your benefits plan after your eligibility period, then you must wait until the next open enrollment period. This typically takes place towards the close of each year. A representative will be sure to connect with you regarding that information closer to the open enrollment period.
