Five Tips to Beat the Monday Blues

Do you ever have a case of the Monday blues? Well, it’s time to turn that frown upside down! While it’s easy to be down in the dumps on Mondays because the weekend has come to a close, try looking at the beginning of the week from a different perspective. If you’re having trouble grasping this idea (as most groggy folks probably are), here are some tips to give you a push in the right direction:

Dress Snazzy

Look good, feel good, do good: This is the motto to live by on Monday mornings. After a long weekend full of activities, an easy way to avoid feeling sluggish is to sport a snazzy outfit. Wearing a spiffy tie or showing off a new pair of heels will definitely make the start of the week more exciting. When was the last time you dressed to impress on a Monday?

Check Your Attitude at the Door

Mondays are not the enemy. Instead of waking up and dreading the thought of going into work, try to set a positive mood for the rest of the week! It’s a time to reorganize and get back on a structured schedule. Try and make a conscious effort to think of one positive  thing at the start and end of your Monday. As the saying goes, “think happy thoughts!”

Phone a Friend

Doesn’t having something to look forward to at the end of a day makes it so much easier to be productive? Some may scoff at the thought of planning a dinner date on a Monday, but this is a surefire way to kick the Monday blues! Try planning a Monday night movie, wine night or yoga class with a friend as something to get you through the day.

Clean Slate

Look at Monday as an opportunity for a clean slate. Set new goals, whether it be for work or for personal goals. You now have a whole five days to complete whatever tasks you need to get done at work or at home! Take initiative and use this new slate to your advantage. Get things done, be productive and you won’t get sidelined by the dreaded Monday mood!

More often than not, positive words have a way of transforming our minds to think happy thoughts (yes, even though it’s Monday.) At the end of the day, Mondays will never go away. Dreading the beginning of the week is just as bad as living for the weekend.
