It’s the middle of the work day smack dab in the middle of the week, meaning it’s time for that slump – the ultimate productivity killer! Your eye lids are heavy; you have no motivation. Powering through seems impossible, but here are some tips to help:
Eat Breakfast Every Morning
Mom was right; breakfast fuels our entire day. Never skip out! Secondly, you need to make sure you’re choosing the right food to start your day. Fiber and protein are your friends for sustained fullness and energy. Forgetting the most important meal or choosing the wrong food will surely lead to the 2 p.m. crash.
Stretch and Move Around
Take a few minutes to stretch and take a brisk walk around the office. Getting your blood pumping while taking your eyes away from your computer screen will wake you back up quickly.
Snack, but Avoid Sugary Foods
Carb/sugar coma is a real thing, so avoid the candy at the receptionist’s desk and birthday treats that are littering the office. Again, protein rich foods are your energy level’s best friend! Consider foods like nuts, peanut butter or Greek yogurt.
Working on the same project for hours is draining! Change it up during the afternoon if you can, so that your mind refocuses and gets motivated all over again.
The afternoon slump does not have to be inevitable. Follow these tips throughout the day, and you will see better productivity even at 2:30 p.m.!
