(Tampa, Florida) April 11, 2016 – The 2016 Hockey Humanitarian Award presented by BNY Mellon Wealth Management, recognizing college hockey’s finest citizens, was awarded to Air Force Senior Chris Dylewski on Friday, April 8. Medix, a national organization specialized in workforce solutions and recruiting skilled personnel for clients in Scientific, Healthcare and Information Technology industries, was proud to sponsor this award for the second year.
The Hockey Humanitarian Award is given to the student-athlete who makes the greatest impact not only to his/her team, but also his/her community, and it was presented during a ceremony at the Tampa Theatre in Florida on Friday, April 8. Already a double major in international history and political science, Dylewski also founded a nonprofit organization and two cadet clubs – all while being a Division I goaltender.
“Positively impacting lives is at the core of what we do, and to see this value come to life is truly inspiring” said Andrew Limouris, President & CEO of Medix. “To partner with an organization that recognizes athletes with a desire to serve others is an honor, and we are thrilled to lock arms with such a great program.”
In 2014, Dylewski co-founded RISE, Inc., an organization which seeks to develop ethical and inspirational leadership skills in young people who have a passion for community service. The group strives to make its greatest impact by supporting underprivileged youth. One initiative included a shoe drive benefitting needy families in Dylewski’s native Colorado Springs.
The award was presented to Dylewski as part of a broader celebration of college hockey. In addition to the distinction, Dylewski received a $2,500 check for RISE, Inc., and all HHA finalists received $500 towards charities of their choosing. These donations from the Foundation are made possible through the generous support of the award’s partners.
