When you’re working in a busy office, a distraction-free work day might seem like an unattainable goal, even if you have an office! Between the constant emails popping up and teammates popping in with questions, focusing on your initiatives can be impossible. Follow these tips to help you achieve a distraction-free work day:

Plan Out Your Day

It’s easy to get derailed when you do not have a plan! Each morning, get yourself organized and plan out your day, taking into account meetings, high priority initiatives and low priority tasks. This will keep you focused on what you need to need to accomplish with a lower risk of being sideswiped.

Go Offline

Trying to focus? Go offline! These days, it’s impossible to go offline for an entire day, but if you put away the smartphone, log off of your social media profiles and close down email for a few hours at a time, you will be more productive with distraction!

Clear Your Workspace

Pictures, reminders and other things littering our desks can be more distracting than you think! If you’re really trying to dig in, clean off your workspace or find an empty area to set up for a little bit.

Communicate to Your Team

If you wear headphones as a sign that you do not want to be bothered, tell your colleagues! If you are logging out of your email for a bit to focus, give your teammates a heads up. If you’re bogged down with projects, make sure others know. Simple communication with your team can eliminate many distractions, as they will be less likely to come to you for something, unless it’s immediate.

Workplace distractions are a problem for many! The good news is that there are simple ways to combat this, so follow these tips.
