Pressure might be a good motivator, but the truth is that nobody truly performs better under pressure. Set Goals and Deadlines
Set attainable goals and deadlines for yourself when tackling your workload. For example, tell yourself, “I will turn in that report by lunchtime,” or, “By the end of the day, I will complete that big presentation.” After you set the goals, be sure to hold yourself accountable.
Break Up Large Projects
Have a big project looming? Instead of looking at it like a large, time consuming project, break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Once you break it apart, remember to take it one task at a time. If you try to do many things at once, you run the chance of burning out and then putting it all off again.
Do the Most Daunting Task First
Are you procrastinating simply because there is an unpleasant report that you really do not want to finish? Tackle it first! Once you crank it out, your remaining projects for the day will seem like a piece of cake, making it easier to stay on task and complete them.
Maybe one of the reasons why you’re prone to procrastination is you get easily distracted. If you are guilty of browsing Facebook when avoiding work, log off. Mess with your smartphone instead of filling out paperwork? Lock your phone in your desk. You will be surprised at how your productivity will pick up once you get rid of distractors.
