Medix teammates can be found across the country taking on new challenges and seeking out unique opportunities. If they’re lucky, sometimes they get to do so with a puppy, too! In our latest Medix teammate spotlight, we’re checking in with Megan, who found her way to Chicago pursuing a career in human resources:

Please explain your current role at Medix.

I currently work in the talent human resources and compliance departments. On the compliance side, I am responsible for overseeing the pre-employment processes, including background checks, drug screens and occupational health screens. I take action to ensure that Medix is compliant with all laws, regulations and position requirements. On the human resources side, I handle benefits, employment verification, worker’s compensation and other HR functions, as well as answering any questions our talent might have about HR-related issues. I get to interact with our talent from across the country on a daily basis and assist them on whatever issue they’re having, which is my favorite part of both of these roles!

What brought you to this role?

I was preparing for my move to Chicago when I interviewed with Medix, and while I had human resources experience in the past, I was looking for a role that would challenge me and bring new opportunities while working with great people! I started as an HR Generalist with Medix, and a few months ago I had the privilege to take on our compliance operations as well. I was very excited for a new challenge and yet another way to create a positive experience for our clients and for our talent.

What made you decide to work for Medix?

When I first interviewed with Medix, I was really struck by how passionate all Medix teammates are about our core values: desire to serve others, never giving up, locking arms and being willing to do what others won’t. I could tell that each Medix teammate and office is committed to positively impacting lives and doing the little things for our talent and clients that make a huge difference, and I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of that!

What are the characteristics young professionals need to possess to be successful at Medix?

The two most important characteristics for a young professional at Medix are determination and a positive attitude. Staffing is a fast-paced and unique industry, but facing each day with a fresh attitude and the will to make things happen is a great start to success.

When you’re not working hard at Medix, what are your hobbies?

As of recently, playing with (and training!) my puppy, Addie!

I also enjoy running and experiencing the great food that Chicago has to offer.

How’s your New Year’s resolution coming?

It’s definitely coming! My resolution was to drink more water throughout the work day and so far the reminders on my phone to “fill up my water bottle” are working!
